Southbridge In Savannah, Ga. |
Southbridge is one of Savannah's premier communities. Located off Dean Forest Road, close to the Interstate 16 exit, it is about 5 minutes from Pooler, Ga. and about 15 minutes from downtown Savannah, Ga. There is a variety of homes ranging from the 200s to over a million. Prices have remained stable for 2007 with no huge increases. The average price for a home in 2006 was $421,273 - in 2007 the average price is $441,928. The average size for homes in Southbridge is 2900 square feet, 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. There is a semi-private golf club at Southbridge which is both a negative and a positive. Some feel that being semi-private it creates a more crowded condition - others, who play only a few times a year, see it as a positive because they can pay to play without paying the costs of joining. However, I have never seen the course overly-crowded, and the fees to join are not prohibitive. Recently the Grand Lake Lodge & Spa was built. It's a 21,000 square foot resort center which offers a fitness center, resort style pool, spa services, a restaurant, outdoor activities (running and walking trails, basketball, sand volleyball, and children's play area) and youth programs. There is an older section of Southbridge with homes mostly built in the 90s, and then there is new construction going toward the backend which now opens up to Hwy 17 giving the community another entrance and exit. There are also town homes and condos for those who prefer less maintenance. All in all, Southbridge is a very active, enjoyable community with lots of amenities and beautiful homes.
