Finally, a positive outlook on home buying from a source that's not the National Association of Realtors. I've been cautiously advising buying because all the signs are present for a turn around in the next year or so, and interest rates are great right now, plus sellers are still ready and willing to negotiate, and you will likely get a reduction in price greater than the reduction you'll get waiting another year for falling prices.
It might be the best time to get a good deal, because once the market starts firming up, sellers will be less willing to take much less than asking price, whereas now there are many sellers ready to sell lower and move on. And, don't forget the standard reasons for ownership -- personally, I hope I never have to rent again -- I like owning my living space and having freedom to create my own style.
Especially in areas like Savannah Ga, buying now with the intention of staying put for 5-10 years makes economic sense when you consider the outlook for Savannah's economy and the fact Savannah will be attractive to retiring baby-boomers.
