Savannah Ga Real Estate: Summer is upon us
Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 01:53PM Summertime in Savannah is a beautiful sight. In the parks and squares and in older neighborhoods like Ardsly Park, the flowers are blooming and everything is green. Tybee Island starts cranking up as people head out to the beach. I was recently on Tybee Island previewing some condos -- FYI, condos at the beach are going at reasonable prices right now. They will probably start climbing again in price next year, but for now you can purchase some good deals.
I was in Ardsley Park and the Victorian District this morning and the flora is amazing. The market is picking up and I'm seeing more properties go under contract. I expect this summer to be moderately good for home-sellers and good for buyers. Sellers are beginning to realize they must price the properties right and buyers are responding.
The buyers and I looked at a couple of properties in the Baldwin Park area. Anyone not very familiar with Savannah may overlook this area in their search -- it's not as well-known as Ardsley Park, downtown or the islands, but it's an up and coming area that has all the charm of Ardsley Park and is closer to downtown. Baldwin Park is on the east side of the Thomas Square Streetcar District close to Victory Drive and the homes, for about 4 blocks around Baldwin Park, have been renovated -- it's a very attractive area of town. The homes were mostly built in the 1930s, so they have style -- you also begin seeing the influence of the Arts and Crafts movement with bungalows sprinkled about.
Prices are in the 200s and 300s for homes that have undergone complete renovations and many of them have been stylishly done. There are still some investment opportunities there, too, for those who like to buy low and renovate.
Oh well, if you're coming to Savannah to visit, make your reservations early, because downtown is crowded with tourists right now.
Later,
Mike from Savannah
