Great Architecture in Savannah Ga
Monday, April 7, 2008 at 06:04PM This pair of townhomes was built in 1869 for the one time mayor, Daniel Purse, on one side, and for Daniel Thomas on the other side.
It stands out in its ornamentation from the more reserved English styles round it. Architect Detlef Lienau brought the Second Empire baroque style to Savannah. Some may think it is too much, but I love the projecting bays, the mansard roof, and all the superfluous beauty.
One day I'll be a better photographer and do these old homes more justice.
