Savannah Ga Real Estate Series: Windsor Forest

windsor.jpgI lived in Windsor Forest the first 10 years after moving to Savannah. I still own the home and rent it out. What I enjoyed about Windsor Forest was the location (close to all the businesses on the southside, up and down Abercorn) and the comfortable feel of a mature neighborhood with lots of trees, shrubbery and flowers. The lots are a little larger there, too, compared with some of the new construction and the lots downtown. Most of the houses were built in the 70s, lots of ranch homes with brick siding.

The price range runs anywhere from the 100s to over 500K for homes in the back on the marsh. Many of the homes have been updated and most of the neighborhood is well-maintained. There are sidewalks on many of the streets and you will see power-walkers, strollers, runners, bikers and skaters about the the neighborhood.

La Vida is the area golf course, a nine hole golf course with a swimming pool at the club house -- next to the swimming pool is a fitness center that's separately owned. To the south of the neighborhood is Armstrong-Atlantic University

Like I said, the location is convenient to both Savannah malls, restaurants, Home Depot, Loews, Office Depot, Best Buy, St Joeseph's Hospital and numerous southside businesses. Not far from Windsor Forest is the Coffee Bluff area with access to the river for boaters.

It's a great southside location for those who want convenince to shopping and like mature neighborhoods and soldily built homes with good size lots..
