Savannah Ga Real Estate Series: Starland Art District/Thomas Square Streetcar District

savannah%20home.jpgThat's a long title, but I wanted to cover the old name and the new name. Thomas Square Streetcar Distrist is basically from Anderson St to Victory Drive, bordered east and west by Broad St and MLK. Much renovation is going on in this area and a large part of it is now considered and called The Starland Art & Design District, or simply the Starland District.

It appears, as I've written about earlier, that the art influence of Savannah College of Art and Design has helped create this art and design district with new residential/commercial combo buildings being built for living and galleries and all sorts of art shops, restaurants and such. The recent slow down in national real estate has slowed the renovation some, but work is still proceeding with old Victorian homes being rebuilt all over the district.

This is an area I recommend for the adventurous who are looking for a alternative living style, but some of the neighborhoods may be more traditional once it's all completed. You can still buy a home for a good price if you're willing to put a little work into it.

I foresee this being a special area of town in a few years, especially when more commercial interests come in and add more options for dining and entertainment and shopping. For more information, and a list of available homes, email me at Mike@MikeFarmerRealty.com.
