New Home Incentives In Savannah Ga
Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 09:09PM I have recently been showing homes in subdivisions where there is a lot of new construction. The estimated completion time the builders are giving is anywhere from 4 to 6 months.
Builders are giving good incentives since the market slowed a little. The young couple I was working with last week bought in a subdivision about 10 minutes from town and got a great deal on a 2000 sq ft spec home. It remains to be seen how long these incentives will last -- their incentives totaled about $10,000.
Activity has increased in the last month, and with the Fed lowering interest rates, it appears it will give the market a boost and maybe strenghthen buyer confidence. Buying at a discount in Savannah is probably a good idea. When things heat back up, if my database of buyers sitting in the wings is any indication, it may heat up quickly causing prices to rise and builders to end their incentives.
It's difficult to time the market perfectly, but from my experience with the Savannah market, I believe now is a great time to get a deal. I know this is said quite often in all markets, and in some markets it may not be true -- in markets where prices are continuing to fall. But, here, we have remained stable and prices are not falling, merely balancing out with no appreciation to speak of. I don't believe this will last long, probably until late summer 2008.
